Keep snakes out of your yard this summer! Shumaker Animal Control can help!
Summer is officially in full swing! Children are on vacation, and everyone is out enjoying the warm weather. If you are concerned that snakes are going to be causing you trouble this summer season, you have come to the right place. We have compiled a list of some helpful tips for keeping snakes off your property this summer. Consider the following and keep these slithering critters off your property.
Inspect Your Home
Spend some time inspecting your home for signs of potential entry points for snakes. You want to be on the lookout for any openings underneath doors. You also need to be mindful of cracks in and around your house. If you come across any openings, you will want to seal them right away. If snakes aren’t using it as a means to get into your home, it is safe to assume that other animals will!
Be Careful Of Wood Piles
Snakes love taking advantage of premade homes. If you live in a wooded area, you need to realize that snakes like to reside in wood piles. If you currently have any wood piles in your property, you need to clear them before snakes find them. They offer excellent coverage for snakes to hide from predators.
Keep Your Yard Free Of Clutter
If you want to rid your property of snakes, you can’t give them a place to hide in your yard. Some common forms of clutter in yards include lawn ornaments, trash bags, benches, rocks, lumber, etc. Also, you don’t want to let your lawn become too long because snakes can hide in the tall grass blades.
Remove Food Sources
Snakes, just like other pests, are attracted into homes and yards by food sources. If you have snakes coming into your yard, it could be because you have an infestation of rodents or small mammals in your yard. If this is the case, you may need to cut off this food source, so snakes don’t keep slithering into your yard.
