Shumaker Animal Control can help you with your bat problem!
Do you have a bat problem in your home? These pesky critters are a safety hazard and have no place inside of your home. The good news is that there are several steps you can take to prevent these small creatures from flying inside. Consider the following steps, and you will be on your way to keeping your residence bat-free!
Seal Your Roof
Bats love inhabiting attics. They are the ideal living environment for bats. If you want to prevent a bat infestation, you need to take measures to seal your roof of any gaps. Use sealants, netting, or bolts to close off any openings. Homeowners with bat problems need to understand that bats are tiny creatures and can slip through the smallest of holes. Regular inspection is important if you are serious about keeping bats out.
Cover Your Chimney
If you have a chimney in your home, you must understand that it is an excellent place for bats to enter your home. For that reason, it is a good idea to use chimney caps to stop bats from flying inside. You can also use wire mesh to cover your chimney; however, it has been proven to be less effective.
Change Your Light Sources
It is important to understand that many light sources can attract bugs. Since insects are a primary food source for bats, you may want to consider swapping out your outside incandescent light bulbs for yellow lights.
Window Screens
If you want to keep bats from entering your home, you should install window screens. When a window is left open at night, you are inviting bats to enter your home. If you are going to open a window when it is dark out, be sure you keep the screen shut.
