House Mice
House mice are typically known to have gray or brown fur. They are relatively small in size, only growing to about 5 inches . Although a lot of mice tend to look the same, house mice have a few district characteristics. If you are looking to differentiate them from other mice, look at their tails. Their tails have much more hair growing on them than other mice.
House Mice Habits
If you haven’t already guessed from their name, mice love to gravitate toward having a house as their habitat. Because of their small size, they feel most comfortable finding a small pathway into a wall where they can live. House mice also are most active at night. They prefer the likelihood of not running into any humans.
Deer Mice
These little mice can grow slightly larger than House mice. They can grow up to eight inches in size. The easiest way to identify them is by their underbelly. They have brown fur, but have white fur on their bellies.
Deer Mice Habits
Deer mice love the idea of being outdoors. They enjoy roaming around in wide open, grassy fields. Outdoor structures like barns, or even homes deep into the country, are where these mice love to make homes. These mice are a bit more adventurous as you’ll see them out and about during the day. During the night, they prefer to stay in their nests. When it gets colder, they do love to burrow in smaller spaces in order to find a safe space to survive and find food.
